AMNITEC STRIPWOUND
FLEXIBLE HOSE
Stripwound Flexible metal hose was first manufactured
in the UK by United-Flexible in 1890, long before the invention
of rubber, plastic and corrugated metallic hose products.
Stripwound hose is manufactured from
a helically wound profiled strip. Available with or without packing,
individual strips are connected together by overlapping and flexibility
is obtained by the adjacent turns sliding on each other sizes from
1/8" to 17".
When compared to other types of flexible
hose, the stripwound product is known for it's strength, durability
and ability to accept both axial and lateral movements.
Standard products available include
those for:
ENGINE EXHAUST APPLICATIONS
Available with either a circular or
polygonal cross section, these products are normally of the lock
or wire packed interlock type. (Where constant diameter is critical,
United-Flexible Polylock is recommended.)
A full range of product sizes and
weights are available in both stainless steel (for longer life and
corrosion resistance) or galvanised steel (for limited life and
low cost applications).
All United-Flexible stripwound exhaust
products are available in random or customer specified cut lengths.
Typical application include commercial
vehicle, passenger vehicle plus plant and portable generator set
exhaust systems.
LIQUID HANDLING APPLICATIONS
United-Flexible hoses for liquids handling
applications are robust, highly resistant to mechanical damage and
are available in a full range of sizes and weights. The product
is particularly suited to conveying hot viscous liquids such as
tar or bitumen (as defined in BS6130) and is available in stainless
steel (for maximum strength and corrosion resistance) and galvanised
steel (for general duties and economy ). Typical applications include
the use of these hose assemblies as a temporary pipeline between
a fixed and moveable installation such as a storage tank and road
tanker.
SOLIDS HANDLING APPLICATIONS
Available in either stainless steel
or galvanised steel, this range of hoses are normally of the lock
or interlock type and are designed for applications where a high
resistance to wear and mechanical damage is required. They offer
superior abrasion resistance compared to rubber hose, especially
at high temperatures. This range is therefore particularly suited
to conveying hot ash, or products where contamination must be avoided,
such as granulated sugar, grain, animal feed or plastic pellets.
These hoses must be used under suction
or pressure and are available in a range of sizes and weights to
suit small and large scale operations such as the transfer of product
from ship to shore or from road/rail tankers to bulk storage silos.
FLEXIBLE ELECTRICAL CONDUIT APPLICATIONS
These products are designed to provide
electrical cables or delicate optical fibres with maximum protection
against mechanical damage.
Liquid tight grades are also available
to give additional protection against exposure to water, oils or
other fluids. United-Flexible standard conduits are of the squarelock
type manufactured in galvanised steel. For applications where product
appearance, strength or corrosion resistance are important, a range
of lock type products are available in stainless steel.
United-Flexible conduits are available
in either random lengths or standard coil lengths of 10, 15, 20
and 30 metres.
A full range of end fittings are available
for both the liquid tight and non liquid tight ranges.
